Maypop moments…what we’ve been up to

We’ve had a wonderful holiday, and I hope you did too! This is our first 4th of July in our new neighborhood, and it was so much fun. We started the day with a Fun Run and Kids Race. Then, later in the afternoon we lined up for a “parade” to the neighborhood clubhouse – which happens to be a beautifully restored historic farmhouse – for a party. The parade was so much fun! Everyone decorated their bikes, golf carts, wagons, etc. patriotically, and we moved together to the event. The kids loved seeing everyone in their red, white, and blue. The party was a mix of pool party, barbecue, and one of the best fireworks shows I’ve seen. One of our neighbors even dressed as a pirate, put together a series of clues, and led the children on a treasure hunt to a real buried chest full of trinkets for the kids. Really, it was an amazing night. I wish I’d grabbed more pictures, but here are a few I snagged on my iPhone.

This dip has been a staple in our house for years. I’d forgotten about how much I loved it though. This week, I rediscovered it and have made it twice. The kids and I are all addicted to it.

And, speaking of Oh She Glows, I picked up Angela’s her cookbook too. It did not disappoint. If you’re looking to eat more veggies, then I highly recommend it. You won’t find a lot of the faux meats or typical vegan substitutes here. Just a lot of plant-based yummy-ness.

We’ve been spending a lot of time at the pool, and my boys are living in the pool ponchos my aunt made for them. So cute, right?

I ordered this science kit for Harrison, and we’ve done it together almost every night this week.

It’s been a great week! What have you been up too?
