Classic paint colors: Benjamin Moore’s Woodlawn Blue

Benjamin Moore Woodlawn Blue | the Maypop

If you’re a regular reader, you know I’ve recommitted myself to my goals this month (#StartFreshJune). One of those goals was to “make our house a home” and to focus on decorating a room at a time. I’d started out the year focused on decorating the dining room, but I am in the “messy middle” of that project and am taking a step back in hopes that I can see it again with fresh eyes.

I’ve shifted my focus instead to creating a Big Boys’ Room. Right now, my boys each have their own bedroom. With the new baby coming, though, I’m moving them into a shared room and the second bedroom will be the new baby’s room.

And, I’m making much better progress on this room than I did with the dining room. The walls were painted this weekend in Benjamin Moore’s Woodlawn Blue. I’m so smitten with this color, and it’s turned out beautifully. I can’t wait to show you how the room is coming together.

In the meantime, though, let’s talk a little bit more about this lovely paint color. Woodlawn Blue is part of BM’s Historic Collection – “a collection of 174 time-honored hues comprises our most popular palette. Steeped in tradition, the refined, elegant colors of the Historical Collection deliver timeless color that can be used in traditional as well as contemporary spaces. Inspired by the documented colors found in 18th- and 19th-century architecture, these classic, inviting tones continue to serve us well today.”

Traditional but can be used in contemporary spaces? Inspired by 18th and 19th century architecture? Yes, yes, yes. Totally my style. It’s a perfect mix of blue, green, and gray that is neutral without being flat, and it is incredibly versatile. Here it is in a variety of spaces – dining rooms, bedrooms, bathrooms, even on bar stools and a front door.
